17th feb-Visit to Nehru Planetarium

We went to worli to the Nehru planetarium and Nehru Museum.

The museum houses many pictures of Nehru, about his life, his days in prison, his letters etc.Then there is a section about India, with many things depicting the various cultures, different times inn Indian history.The planetarium was good with the main attraction the show which used the ceiling as a backdrop to depict the sky and the universe.The show was great.
Ia advice all to visit the planetarium when in Mumbai.

15th Feb--Pre-Employment Medical Checkup.

All TCS employees have to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Checkup before joining the company.I learned that sylvan and abhishek got an email from TCS to go for this checkup.
As they were supposed to be doing their project in TCS i assumed that only they have to go for it right now as i had not received any mail.
But just a few days ago i learned that Sir Karmali had got a call stating that all students placed in TCS have to go for the checkup.
I got the information late and as i had not got my TCS offer letter with me to Mumbai there was no time for me to ask someone to post it to me.
Then Chris told me that reference no was enough along with some ID card.
I had that, and then on the scheduled date i,sylvan and abhi left for Lower Parel where we were supposed to go for the checkup.We reached there early
and got the entry form.There i was told that it was necessary that i produce the photocopy of the offer letter.As i did not have it ,i could not undergo the medical test.
So I had to leave that place without the checkup.

I then had to go to my office.As I had already missed my company bus from Bandra, I had to take a train to Andheri Station and than a bus to Hiranandani.It was a long and tiring trip.And I reached my office 2 hours later then usual at about 11.15am.
Luckily my team-mates along with the team lead as usual were late.So I was in my place when they came.

I called my dad and asked him to post me the offer-latter photocopy.When i receive it ,I will again go for my checkup. Chris also had the same problem,and i think he too returned without a checkup.
Lets see what happens..

Feb 13th.Raj is finally arrested

The police finally arrested Mr. Raj Thackeray. Not for long though.He was presented before the Vikhroli court which granted him bail.I don't mind it.Today too we got to go home early.The buses were rescheduled to leave at 5.15 instead of 6pm and the cabs at 7.30 and 9.30 were canceled in view of the possible traffic jam and possible violence (i guess). So we left our office at 5.15 pm.

On the road all the people are rushing to reach home. I think all the offices have advised their employees to go home early.We reach early in bandra,eat something and go to our place early. why risk just roaming around!!

12th Feb--Trouble in Mumbai

Today was the day everyone thought that Raj Thackeray would be arrested.He was charged for inciting violence by making inflammatory comments against the north Indians. There was tension all around as everyone was fearing violence that would erupt if he is arrested. The tension was evident in our office too with many people glued to the news(on t.v and the net).

Finally there was news that there is violence in Vikhroli, and people started to go home.My teammates too started to go early i.e at 6pm by the company bus. I got to go home early due to this after a long time.The bus to Bandra was full due to some new people taking the transport.Some of them had to stand.
Bandra is generally peaceful and we had no trouble along the way. The day over there proceeds as normal.
Hope it does not worsen in the coming days!!

9th Feb. Visit to Prince of Wales Museum/The Mumbai festival.

We visited the museum in town.It houses many ancient artifacts-pictures,paintings,old coins,jewelery,stuffed animals etc.
It was a great experience.

The Mumbai festival-kaala ghoda is also going on and we visited it.There were a lot of stalls with loads of stuff. Also there were events on the stage.


It was a good day.

8th Feb-Goals Presentation

Today all of us 9 interns had a goals presentation in the board room in front of 5 senior managers.
Each of us had to present on what current work we are doing,any problems,our goals for the internship period and what our expectations are from Deloitte.
All the other interns did a very good job and I (i was the last one to present) think that i did well too.
We had lunch(pizzas) after that.

Overall it was a nice experience as the managers gave their feedback on our goals,presentation skills etc.

5th Feb-Monthly Project update meeting

We had the Monthly Project update meeting meeting attended by R10 QAS Team Members which was held in the board room. Our project manager Minal presided over the meeting.After she had talked about improvements to be brought, all the team leads of the teams present updated everyone about the status of their respective projects.there was also a presentation by one of the teams.

A few of us who were new to Deloitte were made to introduce ourselves to those present for the meeting. It was a good meeting with so many teams all in one place.It was a good experience.

4th Feb-we finally get out stipend

yes..we finally got our cheques for the month of Jan. As we had joined the company on the 16th ,we were not expecting the full stipend.But still we were overjoyed.
Now the task of depositing it in the bank.

2nd-3rd Feb

This sat and sun we did not do much.On saturday we roamed around grant road cause sylvan had to buy electronic components for his brother
and then the town side as syl and jeremy wanted to see buy mp4 player.I just went along.We walked a lot and i was totally tired.
Sunday we got up late and then went for a movie-"American Gangster".Rest of the day we were in bandra only,not doing much..just walking around.
Next weekend we will hopefully plan something.

1st Feb.

i was expecting some work today.my teamamtes as usual were coming at their own time.my immediate superior-mahavir came at about 12.20pm.Soon i learnt that there was a birthday party given by sandeep and prashant at utsav-a nearby restaurant.It was a very good lunch.thanks guys.

It was 3pm by the time we reached back to office.Then i was given some work to write some test cases which i did and then caught the 7.30 cab and came back to bandra.

We had not yet received our stipend for the month on jan-we would be getting checks.we were told that we would get it by mon or tues.

28thJan-1st Feb.

Not done much.from office to home.same routine.
We are in the office from 9am to 7.30pm and reach bandra by 8.45 pm.

On friday though there is a birthday party given by sandeep and prashant.they are from the team sitting close to us.

Overall the week is boring.

27th jan

we get up early as we have to shift to bandra.By moving early we avoid the traffic and we can can travel easily with our luggage.we move in into our new accomodation, leave our luggage there and all of us-jeremy,me,sylvan,abishek,dev,and sylvans cousin
go to churchgate(town side).
Its a posh locality with mostly business housings.The buildings are magnificant.
The CST railway station bldg is great.
The day goes well and in the evening we return to bandra,and then we to our new place.

21st -27th Jan

This week was spent in office going through the requirement documents of my project.i was shifted to a new project as there was a delay in me getting my pc.I was put in to testing project, where we had to test the databases.My pc arrived on the 24th.
Through the week we saw different places for accomodation and mostly were issapointed.we went to andheri(w),in bandra,in marol .
then on thursday we found an accomodation in shokenagar.we liked the place and decided to take the room.But on the sam day sylvan called and told us that there was place available in bandra.So on friday we went to see that place .we liked it too.we decided to take this place.and to move on sunday.
On saturday we again went to bandra.we spent the day around bandra and returned back to ashokenagar to pack our bags.
